Monk of Pacana
Photographed in the Atacama Desert, Chile
As if the Chile’s Atacama Desert ins’t magnificent enough on its own, there are also these unbelievable “statues” adding to the scenery. They are huge vertical rocks formations that have been shaped by wind erosion over millions of years, mimicking the silhouette of monks. they are remains of large volcanic eruptions which once flowed in the area. The gignormous rock formations rise toward the sky enhancing this beautiful area.
How large is this one? Do you see Bill standing in the foreground? He’s nearly 6′ and barely visible!
