High altitude Lake Titicaca is located between Peru and Bolivia and at an average altitude of 12,500 feet above sea level. It is surrounded by beautiful, snow-capped Andean mountain ridges and slopes varying in altitude 13,100 – 13,800 feet above sea level. Beautiful!

Thanks for Another Awesome Year

It’s been a truly awesome year. Thanks for allowing me to share some of my travel adventures with you.

For those of you who’ve asked, YES! I am working on a new eBook — Destinations! It’s not going to be travel book. Nor will it a travel diary. We’ve been to over 100 countries on all seven continents plus lots islands in between. Many places are similar; others are unique in ways that fill volumes describing them. I didn’t feel the need to create yet one more travel/tour book. Instead, I’m taking a broader view. This book will celebrate our beautiful planet from a photographic perspective by destination type. I hope to have it on for sale on iBooks by mid year. Stay tuned.

And, here’s to a 2017 filled with more adventures!

Fall: Seeking Warmer Waters

MIA06-Man02

Manatees

Photographed in Miami

I know you’re accustomed to seeing my underwater photographs. This one is different. Not taken IN the water at all; just the reverse. I was standing on my 38th floor balcony when this mom and her calf were slowly swimming up the Miami River below us. Although we see manatees in the River often, these two were staying shallow and easy to see. Grab the camera, run back to the balcony and… click.

I love these wonderful mammals. Although we’ve been here for years, I still enjoy watching the manatees arrive in the fall, going up and down the River at their amazingly slow pace.
